Product Description Washed-up photojournalist buzzy crocker and his niece team up to solve a haunting mystery about five party-goes who disappeared from an elevator on halloween 1939 and whose ghosts are trapped within the dilapidated remains of the hollywood tower hotel. Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 03/01/2005 Starring: Steve Guttenberg Kirsten Dunst Run time: 89 minutes Rating: Nr
Amazon.com Kirsten Dunst stars as plucky teen niece to Steve Guttenberg in this 1997 telefilm that sets out to provide background for one of Disney/MGM Studios' popular thrill-rides, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Guttenberg plays Buzzy, a down-on-his-luck former journalist relegated to concocting stories for a Weekly World News-inspired tabloid. When an elderly woman approaches Buzzy with a compelling ghost story, he's persuaded to investigate. Dunst is Anna, who joins Buzzy in his search to find out the truth about the mysterious 1939 disappearance of five people--including a Shirley Temple-like child star--at the eerily abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel. There are some scary segments, which may truly frighten sensitive younger viewers. Still, for older kids and adult viewers, Dunst's presence and a fairly fun story makes this an engaging film. (Ages 8 and older) --N.F. Mendoza

Halloween fun December 17, 2008 Chris D (Melbourne, Vic, Australia) I love this movie. I first saw it when I was on holiday in the US. One of the reasons I love it so much is due to the fact that it's based on the Disneyworld ride at MGM Studios in Orlando Florida. As I went on the ride, I could see where they had used some of the ride in the film. So this is the main reason I love it so much. It brings back a lot of memories for me from my trip. However, the movie itself is good clean fun and I enjoy watching it. A good family movie.
Guttenberg's Finest October 29, 2008 Schlermie (Silicon Valley, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, I'd like to state that my 2-star rating is based on how I would rate this movie compared to all major motion picture movies, typically catering to teens and adults. However, I'll admit that maybe that's not a fair rating, considering this movie was made for kids. As a kid's movie, and judging by how much my girls (ages 3 and 6) enjoyed it, I would give it a 4-star rating.
I mainly purchased this movie to get my girls pumped up for an upcoming trip to Disneyland. (I chose this one, because my 6-year old now meets the height requirement for the Tower of Terror ride in the California Adventure park.) I was sort of skeptical that this movie would capture the attention spans of a 3 and 6-year old for 100 minutes, but it was cheap and it had a sort of lame, kitchy appeal to me anyway, so I bought it. I underestimated how much my girls would enjoy it. Although their attention spans wandered a little during some of the boring parts, they both thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and begged to watch it again after it was over. (Sorry girls...Daddy's about gouge his eyes out.)
Now a word about the star of the movie...Steve Guttenberg. Guttenberg always seems to land all the hottest movies. He's like a magnet to cinematic masterpieces like Police Academy, Amazon Women on the Moon, Overdrive, Zeus and Roxanne, Casper: A Spirited Beginning,...the list goes on and on. Tower of Terror was his finest performance. He was absolutely horrible. Rock on Steve!
Cute Movie October 2, 2008 Holly L. Njus (IA) This is a good movie. Definately and ending that I was not expecting but I liked it. You will like it to if you like ghosts!
Tower of Terror August 25, 2008 John L. Pavlock Jr. (Las Vegas, NV USA) Tower of Terror is a great purchase. For the avid Disney Fan who has been on the ride. I believe this is a neat little movie.
"I want to go to Disneyland now" August 23, 2008 Debi Pruitt (Huntsville, Alabama) After watching this wonderful movie, I want to go to Disneyland to ride the Tower of Terror ride. My son just went and called me while he was on the ride. I was so jealous. This movie is great. Especially the big band feel of it. Love that era. Actors were great and I was in suspense till the end. Buy this movie!
